Savings and Rent Contributions
Understanding your savings and payments to your social landlord.
Why did I not receive the advertised discount or saving?
Check your saving choice first. You may have chosen to put the saving towards rent instead of paying less for your voucher. Where to look - Keeping the saving: you pay less when buying the voucher in Housing Perks. You will not get the same discount again at the retailer's till. - Rent contributions on: you pay the voucher amount, and the saving goes towards rent. Check the Rent tab. You can turn rent contributions on or off in the Rent tab if your landlord offers the option. Offers can change or end. Check the saving and payment total shown in the app before buying. If those amounts do not match your purchase, tell support your mobile number, retailer, amount and purchase date. Need help? In the Housing Perks app, tap Help, then the support email address or Contact Support button. If you cannot use the app, use our contact form.
How do I opt in so savings or rent contributions go towards my rent?
If your landlord offers rent contributions, you can choose whether to put your voucher savings towards rent or keep the discount straight away. How to choose 1. Open the Rent tab in Housing Perks. 2. Open the rent contribution setting. 3. Choose On to put savings towards rent, or Off to pay less for your vouchers straight away. You can change your choice for future purchases. Changing the setting does not move back contributions already processed or turn earlier discounts into rent payments. If the rent option is missing, your landlord may not offer it. You can still keep the discounts on your voucher purchases. Ask support or your landlord if you are unsure. Need help? In the Housing Perks app, tap Help, then the support email address or Contact Support button. If you cannot use the app, use our contact form.
What Does My Savings Total Mean?
Your savings total shows the discounts from your Housing Perks purchases. It is a record of your savings, rather than money waiting to be paid to you. A simple example If you pay £95 for a £100 voucher, you have already saved £5. The £5 stays in your bank account because you paid less. If you choose rent contributions instead, the saving goes towards your rent. Check the Rent tab for the contribution amounts and payment details. You choose how to use future savings: keep the discount straight away or put it towards rent, if your landlord offers that option. Your savings total is different from the money left on a voucher. It also does not tell you whether a particular rent payment has reached your landlord. Related questions - Why did I not receive the advertised discount or saving? Need help? How Do Rent Contributions Work?
You can choose to put your voucher savings towards rent instead of keeping the discount straight away. This option is available if your landlord offers rent contributions. A simple example For a £100 voucher with a 5% saving: - Keep the discount: pay £95 and spend the £100 voucher at the retailer. - Put it towards rent: pay £100, spend the £100 voucher at the retailer, and £5 goes towards your rent. Check the saving and payment total shown before buying. Offers and payment options can affect the amounts. You are in control Open the Rent tab to turn rent contributions on or off. Turning them off lets you keep the discount on future purchases. It does not move back contributions already processed. Housing Perks sends contributions to your landlord, who adds them to your rent account. This may take time to appear. Check the Rent tab for statements, and ask your landlord about a payment we have confirmed was sent. Related questions - How do I opt in so savings or rent contributions go towards my rent? Why Is My Rent Contribution Not Showing?
Check the Rent tab to see the contribution amount and whether a payment has been sent to your landlord. A contribution can appear in Housing Perks before your landlord adds the payment to your rent account. Who to contact - If you cannot tell whether we have sent the payment, ask Housing Perks support to check. - If we have confirmed it was sent, ask your landlord when it will appear on your rent account. Tell us the amount, date and landlord you are asking about. If you have already contacted your landlord, include their reply. If you kept the discount on a purchase, that saving will not also be sent towards rent. You can choose rent contributions for future purchases where available. Need help? In the Housing Perks app, tap Help, then the support email address or Contact Support button. If you cannot use the app, use our contact form.
